Why my status is “unprotected”

When you open the Proton VPN app, you will sometimes see the warning You are unprotected! or You are not connected.

This means that you are currently disconnected from our Proton VPN service. Without an active connection to our servers, your internet traffic is not encrypted, leaving your browsing history and personal data vulnerable to interception. Your current IP address is also exposed, allowing websites and networks to track your physical location. To resolve this, you just need to connect to the desired server and the status should change to Protected or Connected.
