Understanding Netflix behavior when connected to Proton VPN
For most users using Proton VPN to watch Netflix, by default, you will access the United States Netflix catalog. However, if you connect to a Plus server in one of these countries, you will access the local version of Netflix instead:
- Australia
- Belgium
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Hong Kong
- India
- Italy
- Japan
- Lithuania
- Malaysia
- Netherlands
- Philippines
- Poland
- Portugal
- Romania
- Slovakia
- South Korea
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Turkey
- Ukraine
- United Kingdom
- United States
For users in Europe connecting to servers in Germany, France, Italy, or Switzerland, due to European data portability laws, you will continue to see your home country’s catalog. This is expected behavior. However, if you continue to access Netflix on our Plus servers in these countries for a few weeks, then Netflix will change your catalog to that country.
