Abema (アベマ) is a Japanese online streaming television network that features news, sports, entertainment, anime, and more. The service is particularly noted for its investment in live sports streaming, making headlines in Japan for broadcasting all 64 matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. 

Multiple channels are available on Abema, most of which are free to watch as live broadcasts. You can also purchase a premium subscription for on-demand access to past programs.

How to watch Abema with Proton VPN on Android, iPad, and iPhone

Abema apps are available for Android(new window) and iOS and iPadOS(new window).

Troubleshooting Abema streaming problems

If Abema doesn’t work after following the above steps, try the following troubleshooting options:

  1. Restart the Proton VPN app and start a new VPN connection.
  2. If you are accessing Abema via your browser, try clearing your browser cache(new window).
  3. Restart your device.
  4. Clear your DNS cache (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
