Frequently asked questions
Are VPNs legal in India?
It’s legal to use a VPN in India. But the Indian government passed a law in 2022 requiring VPN providers to record and store users’ personal details. This includes your name and address, email address, IP address, your reason for using a VPN, and more.
We have a strict no-logs policy, and logging user data is against everything we stand for. So we decided to stop operating Proton VPN servers physically located in India.
