Our iOS app officially supports iOS 14.0 or later and iPadOS 14.0 or later. If you have a device running an older version of iOS or iPad OS, you won’t be able to download and install our app unless you have previously downloaded an older version of Proton VPN. This is a limitation built into iOS.
You should update your device to at least iOS 14.0, but this isn’t possible on older devices.
However, if you have a device running iOS 12.x or iOS 13.x, there’s a workaround that allows you to download and install an older version of the Proton VPN app that is compatible with your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
Workaround to download Proton VPN on iOS 12 and iOS 13
This workaround requires that you have access to a device running iOS 14.0 or later or iPadOS 14.0 or later.
1. On the iOS 14+ device, sign in using your Apple ID and download the Proton VPN app from the App Store
2. On your iOS 12 or iOS 13 device, you should now be able to download the last compatible version of Proton VPN for your device from the App Store.
Please note that using an older version of our app means you will not have access to features that are only available in newer releases (such as Stealth protocol).
