With new servers in Brazil, Proton VPN now offers IP addresses on six continents!

Ever since our co-founder, Dr. Andy Yen, gave his talk on encryption at TEDGlobal 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has been an important market for us and a priority for Proton VPN.

Brazil is the newest country to join the Proton VPN network, and it is our first entry into South America. We now have servers online on all the inhabited continents (sorry, Antarctica). No matter where in the world you live, there is a Proton VPN server nearby that can protect your online activity.

These new Brazil VPN servers(new window) will bring reduced latency to millions of people across South America. This makes it easier than ever for you to secure your connection on public Wi-Fi and protect your IP address(new window) while still maintaining the fastest possible Internet connection.

Brazil was the eighth most popular country in our community poll, and with it we now offer VPN servers in 26 countries. We have nearly completed our goal of installing servers in all of the top 10 countries from the community poll. Come back next week to see which country is next!

The four new VPN servers are housed in São Paulo and reserved for users with one of our paid plans:

?? BR #1 is available for Basic plans
?? BR #2-4 are available for Plus and Visionary plans

Why servers in Brazil are useful

With these new servers, users with a paid account can browse the Internet with a Brazilian IP address and avoid online geo-restrictions. This means that Brazilians abroad can keep up with the news and their favorite shows from home, no matter where in the world they are. These servers have been reserved for our users with paid accounts. Proton VPN Plus or Visionary users will have exclusive access to servers BR#2-4 for higher speeds, as well as access to our Secure Streaming feature, which allows you to watch Hulu(new window), HBO GO, ZDF, Channel4, Channel5, and Brazilian favorites, such as Rede Globo and Rede Record, without compromising your security.

Plus and Visionary subscribers also have access to our Secure Core servers. These servers are fully owned and provisioned by Proton VPN and placed in countries with strong legal privacy protections. When you use Secure Core, we route your traffic through multiple servers, including these hardened servers, protecting your data from advanced network attacks. Brazil will also have a Secure Core exit server.
