More reasons to connect to Proton VPN servers in Italy
A trustworthy and transparent VPN
Proton was founded by scientists who met at CERN and decided to create an internet where privacy is the default. We have been recommended by the United Nations as an effective method to avoid censorship and are supported by the European Commission.
Open source and independently audited
We don’t expect anyone to trust our word alone, which is why we were the first VPN provider to make all our apps open source. You can see for yourself how our apps work. We have also commissioned independent professionals to conduct security audits on our apps, the results of which are public for anyone to see.
Privacy-first VPN protection
We make choosing privacy simple. Our easy-to-use VPN lets you connect to a VPN server with a single click or tap. We also follow a strict no-logs policy, which means we don’t keep any session usage information about what you do online, and we don’t log any metadata that could compromise your privacy.
Bypass censorship and access blocked content
Proton VPN is the VPN of choice for many activists and pro-democracy movements around the world. Our alternative routing feature automatically detects when your network might be trying to block VPN connections and establishes an alternative connection to our servers.
Comprehensive VPN security
Proton VPN was created by the same team of scientists who created Proton Mail to ensure everyone has secure access to the internet. We have included multiple advanced security features, such as our Secure Core and NetShield Ad-blocker features to stop anyone from following you around the internet.

Is VPN legal in Italy?
Yes. VPNs are legal in all but the most oppressive countries in the world, and certainly in a free country like Italy, where VPN use is common.
Although there is nothing illegal about using a VPN in Italy, domestic VPN services may be required to keep logs that can be requested for by the Italian government. Such requirements do not apply to international VPN services. Proton VPN is based in Switzerland, which allows us to keep zero logs that can compromise your privacy.
