How to add and remove dedicated VPN servers
If you have a Proton Business Suite or Proton VPN Professional plan, you can buy dedicated VPN servers for your organization. Dedicated servers can only be used by your team and each one has a dedicated IP address. Once you have dedicated servers, you can set up Gateways which allow your team to connect to them.
In this support article, we’ll look at:
How to add dedicated servers
1. Sign in to account.protonvpn.com with your Proton Account username and password and go to Gateways → Get more servers.
2. Go to Subscription options → Dedicated servers and click + next to the number of VPN servers.
3. You’ll see the additional charge for the new VPN servers. If you have any credits or prorated payments on your account, they’ll be applied to your total automatically. Click Pay to confirm your purchase.
You now have new dedicated servers which can be assigned to Gateways.
How to remove dedicated servers
You can also remove dedicated servers from your organization.
- If you have a Proton Business Suite plan, you can remove all your dedicated severs.
- VPN Professional plans must have at least 1 dedicated server at all times—so if you want to delete all servers, you’ll need to contact our customer support team.
To remove dedicated severs:
1. Make sure the servers you wish to remove are not assigned to a Gateway.

2. Go to Gateways → Get more servers.
3. Go to Subscription options → Dedicated servers and click – next to the number of VPN servers.
4. To continue, click Close. When you remove servers, you’ll receive account credits for the value of the remainder of your server rental.
Deleting a server can’t be undone, but you can add a new server to your organization at any time.
Please note that dedicated servers have a 10-day cooling down period when removed from a Gateway. This means that if you delete and repurchase a server within that period, you’ll only be able to assign it to the same location that it was previously used in.
