To change your server or country selection, please follow these steps:
For the native windows client, once you have logged into the Proton VPN application, there are two ways to select a server:
- Find the country you are looking for in the Country List on the left side and click the connect button when your mouse hovers over the list entry. Tip: You are also able to search for any particular servers or countries you would to connect to by using the search tab in the center of the application on the left.
- Find and click the country marker you are looking for on the world map and on the popup marker click connect.

How do I change servers using the linux client?

Hello Matt, first of all, you have to disconnect from the VPN server using pvpn -d command. Then, use pvpn -c command and choose a server you would like to connect to.

I am able to connect to the VPN but I am not able to open the client in Windows 10. If I click on the icon in the bottom right corner I can open a small screen which displays the country that I am connected to. If I click on “Open ProtonVPN” nothing happens. If I click on the ProtonVPN icon on my desktop nothing happens. The only way to change the country that I am connected to is by selecting fastest/random connection.

Hey Rick, just simply try to reinstall the app with the newest version and the issue should not persist.

Proton VPN is not working. I checked my IP address, and it is not masked. Even though ProtonVPN is showing in Task Monitor, I’m not able to bring up the monitoring screen where I can choose countries, or show the access. I have re-installed several times now, and still am not seeing the Windows client. I have seen it twice in the past, but I do not now seem to have access. How can I get ProtonVPN working, and verify it is active on an ongoing basis?

1. please check that in task manager two things are running: ProtonVPN.exe and ProtonVPNService. 2/ if you cannot find the client window, look in the lower right systray and see if there is a ProtonVPN icon. If not try starting ProtonVPN.exe again from the start menu by searching for ProtonVPN.
If this doesn’t solve your problem, please drop us a line via the support form. thanks!
