ProtonVPN has eight new servers in Moldova.

We installed eight new servers in Moldova

Moldova is the 43rd country to join the Proton VPN network. These servers allow anyone in the world to browse the Internet with a Moldovan IP address(new window) and should improve latency for our users in Eastern Europe.

We installed eight new VPN servers in a data center in Chisinau. They are available to users on one of our paid plans(new window). Each new server we install increases our capacity for new users and improves service for our current users.

MD#1-3 are available on our Basic plan.
MD#4-8 are available on our Plus and Visionary plans.

Why servers in Moldova are important

Despite not being a member of the EU, Moldova has adopted many of the data protection provisions contained in the GDPR(new window). Their National Center for Personal Data Protection(new window) has several videos that explain how to protect your personal data(new window) and how to protect the personal data of children(new window). We applaud the Moldovan government’s efforts to raise its citizens’ awareness of their data security.

Now that these eight servers have come online, Moldovans can connect to these servers and protect their online browsing with an extra layer of encryption.

To be even more secure, Proton VPN Plus or Visionary users can activate our Secure Core(new window) feature. Secure Core allows you to add another layer of security to your online activity. First, it routes your Internet traffic through a hardened server before sending it on to an exit server in your desired country. These hardened servers are controlled and owned by Proton VPN, making it less likely that an attacker could access them. By routing your traffic through two servers, Proton VPN offers you protection from even advanced network attacks.
