How to unblock Hotstar with Proton VPN

It offers movies and shows that you can watch for free, while other content, like live sports, Disney and Hollywood films, and the latest Hindi and regional Indian films, is reserved for premium members.

How to watch Hotstar with Proton VPN:

Connect to any Plus server located in India. Plus servers are available for Plus, Unlimited, Family Visionary Plan subscribers. For the fastest and most reliable connection, please connect to the server that is closest to your current location. Unfortunately, streaming Hotstar on a mobile device (Android or iOS) outside India requires the Hotstar mobile app, and to download the app, you need access to the Indian version of the App or Google Play store.

Step 1:

Get a VPN Plus or Proton Unlimited subscription

If you already have a VPN Plus, Proton Unlimited(nouvelle fenêtre), or Visionary (legacy users only) account, you can skip to step 2.

If you’re a new user, sign up for Proton VPN.

If you already have a Free plan, upgrade your account by signing in and selecting VPN Plus or Proton Unlimited from your account Subscription page.

Step 2:

Install our VPN app

You need to download the Proton VPN app for your operating system. You can securely stream your favorite shows on Windows, macOS, and Linux devices.

If you have already downloaded the Hotstar app and made an account, you can also stream your favorite shows on the go with your Android or iOS devices.

If you have an Android TV, you can join the beta testing program and install the app directly on your device. If you already have our app, you can skip to Step 3.

Buy a Hotstar subscription

Hotstar does have content you can stream for free. However, if you want to watch live sports or get early access to your favorite prime time Indian TV shows, you will need a Hotstar premium subscription. If you already have a Hotstar subscription or you only want to access their free content, you can skip to Step 5.

If you are connected to a Plus server in India, log in to Hotstar and then kick back, relax, and watch your favorite Indian shows.

If you experience issues watching Hotstar, please try the following:

Use a different browser
Restart your device
Clear your DNS cache(nouvelle fenêtre)
