How to configure Iru (Kandji) MDM to use Proton VPN
You can deploy Proton VPN directly to managed Apple devices using Iru’s MDM (mobile device management) platform. This allows you to install, configure, and manage Proton VPN across your organization without requiring manual setup by your users.
Iru was formerly known as Kandji.
Setup and usage guide
To get started, you’ll need:
- Iru administrator access with permissions to manage apps
- A Proton VPN for Business or Proton Business Suite plan
- Enrolled devices running supported operating systems
Supported operating systems:
- macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
- iOS and iPadOS 15 or later
Deploy Proton VPN with Iru
Proton VPN is available as an Auto App in the Iru library, making it easy to deploy.
- Sign in to your Iru admin console.
- Navigate to the Library.
- Add the Proton VPN Auto App from the Iru library.
- Assign the app to the appropriate Blueprint(s).
- Deploy the app to managed devices.

Configure your deployment settings
With Iru’s Auto Apps framework, you can:
- Automatically install Proton VPN on enrolled devices
- Control app updates
- Ensure consistent deployment across your organization
