TikTok does appear to be banned in Oman, though the exact reason and cause are not clear, and the government has previously refused to acknowledge that it bans tech platforms.
In April 2025, the Omani Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) “clarified(fereastră nouă)” that TikTok connection issues were due to “technical reasons” and that TikTok was not banned. (They did not explain to reporters how technical reasons would affect only TikTok and not other internet services.)
Now, for the second time in about 18 months, Omanis are experiencing problems accessing TikTok. Starting August 13, 2026, users began to complain on Reddit(fereastră nouă) and other social media platforms that TikTok appears to be banned. No official TikTok ban has been announced, and it seems likely the Omani government will again blame technical reasons for the current issues experienced by TikTok users.
Posters on Reddit, however, have suggested the government may be interfering with TikTok access following the sentencing(fereastră nouă) of a woman to one year in prison and deportation for producing and publishing content that violated public morals during a live broadcast on social media.
