ProtonVPN

You should be able to enjoy all of Proton VPN’s advanced features, no matter what device you’re using. To help you track our progress in achieving this goal, we published a roadmap in April outlining our plans for new features and products designed to make your life more private, more productive, and more convenient.

We believe keeping you, the Proton community, informed of what has been completed is an important part of ensuring the tools we build serve your needs. In case you missed any of these announcements, here’s a list of everything that’s been added over the year so far.

We’ll share our roadmap for fall soon, so be sure to check back in and see what’s coming next.

More private

NetShield Ad-blocker in action

Never fall for a phishing attack

Have you ever clicked on a link that takes you to a suspicious website or downloads files you didn’t want? Our NetShield Ad-blocker DNS filtering feature has always protected you from a wide range of malware and unwanted trackers, but now you can rely on it for even more protection from malicious actors.

NetShield now blocks almost all known phishing(новое окно) domains (while minimizing “false positives”), making the internet safer and more enjoyable to explore.

Use Proton VPN on your iPhone and iPad – no account needed

You can now use Proton VPN on your iPhone and iPad without a Proton Account. Just install the app and tap the Continue as guest button to defeat censorship and protect your privacy online.

Bypass censorship and access local services in more locations

Defeat government efforts to censor international connections and access local content by connecting to 15,000+ VPN servers in 126 countries. New locations include Panama, Armenia, Mongolia, Laos, Brunei, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Honduras, plus an additional two new US cities (Memphis, Tennessee, and McAllen, Texas).

More productive

Split tunneling on macOS

Use our VPN your way

Already available on Windows, Android, and our browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, you can now use split tunneling on your Linux or Mac device to route some connections through the VPN tunnel while excluding others. For example, you can use a VPN only for specific purposes, like protecting your torrenting sessions or changing your location when gaming.

And by popular demand, you can now join in the fun by torrenting faster than ever on your Mac by port forwarding through the firewall Proton VPN uses to protect our customers.

Split tunneling and port forwarding are available to everyone with a paid Proton VPN plan.

Note that split tunneling on macOS is currently an experimental feature, so we’d greatly appreciate your feedback on how it works for you.

Connect over IPv6 on Windows

As part of our commitment to future-proofing our service across all apps, you can now connect to websites using IPv6 in our Windows app, joining our Android and Linux apps. We’re still working on adding IPv6 support to our macOS, iOS, and iPadOS apps.

Browse faster for longer

Improvements to our Android and iOS apps mean you can now browse the internet safely wherever you have reception without worrying about your smartphone dying. Your phone will wake up less when it’s supposed to be idle, conserving battery power while Proton VPN works in the background to protect your privacy.

A major improvement to our unique VPN Accelerator technology also ensures that everyone enjoys blazing-fast page load times and fully benefits from the bandwidth you pay for, even under unusual network conditions.

More convenient

Custom DNS on macOS and iOS

Use advanced content filters on Apple devices

Normally, when you connect to Proton VPN, we encrypt and resolve your DNS queries. Custom DNS lets you choose one or more third-party DNS resolvers instead, allowing you to access their advanced DNS filtering features, such as parental controls and customized blocklists.

Now, we’ve added Custom DNS support to our iOS/iPadOS, macOS, and Android TV apps. This means you can now enjoy this popular feature on all your devices, including Android, Linux, and Windows. Custom DNS is available to everyone with a paid Proton VPN plan.

See fewer ads on Android TV

New support for NetShield Ad-blocker on our Android TV app means you can enjoy your favorite shows, movies, and sports events on your big-screen TV with fewer ads. You can also set Proton VPN to launch and connect when your device starts to ensure your viewing habits always remain private.

Buy Proton VPN your way

For greater convenience, you can now pay for Proton VPN using Apple Pay, and companies in Europe can pay for Proton for Business plans using SEPA. We’ve also partnered with ProxyStore(новое окно) and CoinGate(новое окно) to provide new ways to buy our service and make Proton VPN accessible to more people.

We also now accept additional cryptocurrency payment options, such as Monero, Litecoin, Ethereum, and more. We’re using resellers to handle these cryptocurrency payments, which lets us provide an additional layer of privacy for customers whose threat models require additional security.

This was one of the community’s most popular requests.

Thrill to the sound of burning rubber

Do you love Formula 1? You can now catch the latest racing coverage, exclusive feeds, and breathtaking on-demand action with better F1 TV streaming support in more countries worldwide.

Stream like you’re home — from wherever you are

You can now watch local versions of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ safely and securely in most countries worldwide. We’ve also added support for many regional services, such as Channel 5 (UK), Discovery+ (US), VTR Max (Belgium), and Megogo (Ukraine).

Connect and Go

With our new Connect and Go feature available for Android and Windows, you can automatically launch an app or website using a VPN connection profile, which is great for anyone who always uses a VPN for specific apps or websites. You can even open websites in Incognito mode.

Proton VPN for Business

If you’re a Proton VPN for Business administrator, you can now customize shared servers and specify which server locations the users in your organization can access.

You can also configure dedicated IP addresses for your gateways in more countries to better serve distributed teams. Finally, you can ensure only authorized users access your gateways using Gateway Monitor.

So what’s next?

We also have some exciting new announcements (some previously only hinted at) about upcoming new features and improvements to come over the coming months. Highlights include a cleaner interface and quicker access to our servers in 120+ countries and their cities for our macOS and Linux apps, and a treat for those of you on our Free plan.

Lastly, good things come to those who sudo wait.

To find out more, watch out for our upcoming Proton VPN fall and winter roadmap.

Thank you for supporting our work to make privacy and freedom available to everyone. To tell us what you think about our recent improvements or to suggest new features you’d like to see, join our community(новое окно).
