ProtonVPN has eight VPN servers in Latvia and eight VPN servers in Slovakia.

Over the past two months we have expanded rapidly, adding 33 new servers and four new countries to our network. And that doesn’t include the servers we are testing in Taiwan or the ones we have replaced or upgraded. Today, we increase the pace again, installing 16 new servers: eight in Latvia(nouvelle fenêtre) and eight in Slovakia. These are the 38th and 39th countries to join the Proton VPN network.

These servers will help Latvians and Slovakians when a secure, private, and local connection is required. But Proton VPN makes it extremely easy for you to switch your Internet connection to another country when necessary. For example, both Latvia and Slovakia are members of the European Union, which means they are subject to the controversial Article 13(nouvelle fenêtre) of the copyright directive that the European Parliament passed earlier this year. Article 13 has been dubbed the “meme ban” because it requires Internet platforms to use upload filters to find and block copyrighted content.

With Proton VPN, you have access to a borderless Internet. If you are in the EU, you will still be able to access blocked content by connecting to a Proton VPN server outside the EU.

We installed eight new VPN servers in data centers in both Riga and Bratislava. They are available to users on one of our paid plans(nouvelle fenêtre). Each new server we install increases our capacity for new users and improves service for our current users.

LV#1-3 and SK#1-3 are available on our Basic plan.
LV#4-8 and SK#4-8 are available on our Plus and Visionary plans.

Why servers in Latvia and Slovakia are useful

With these new servers, you can browse the Internet with a Latvian or Slovakian IP address and avoid online geo-restrictions. This means that even while traveling abroad, Latvian and Slovakian users can keep up with the news from home and easily access content in their native language. If you have a Proton VPN Plus or Visionary plan, you get exclusive access to Plus servers, like LV#4-8 and SK#4-8, for higher speeds.

You can also securely stream your favorite content on Disney+(nouvelle fenêtre), HBO Now(nouvelle fenêtre), and more!
