How to clear browser cache and cookies

Sometimes you need to clear your browser’s cache and cookies in order to access the ProtonVPN dashboard (reason include but not limited to, corrupted cache or new version available). Below we describe how to accomplish this in the browser of your choice.


  1. In the upper right-hand corner, select the Menu, choose Settings, and select Show advanced settings…
  2. Under Privacy, select Clear browsing data
  3. Ensure the checkboxes are selected for Cookies and other site and plugin data and Cached images and files 
  4. Select Clear Browsing data


  1. In the upper right-hand corner, select the Menu, choose Preferences, and select the Privacy tab.
  2. Under History, select clear your recent history
  3. Ensure the checkboxes are selected for Cookies and Cache 
  4. Select Clear Now


  1. In the upper left-hand corner, select the Safari, choose Preferences, and select the Privacy tab.
  2. Under Cookies and other website data, select Remove All Website Data
  3. Select Remove Now

Internet Explorer

  1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history…
  2. Make sure to uncheck Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies
  3. Select Delete

iOS (Safari)

  1. From the home screen, tap the Settings button
  2. On the Settings screen, scroll down and tap the Safari button
  3. Under the ‘Privacy’ section of the Safari screen, tap the button labeled Clear Cookies and Data
  4. On the confirmation screen, tap Clear Cookies and Data


  1. Open the browser and click the Menu button on your phone. Tap the More option
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Scroll down to the Privacy settings section and tap the Clear cache option.
  4. Now tap the Clear all cookie data option.
  5. Select OK.

    Hola, he seguido los pasos pero no puedo conectar el ProtonVPN
    Windows 7,
    Descargue, reinicie, limpie cache, pero no conecta; sin embargo cuando estaba en Free me conectada perfectamente.

    I am using Duckduckgo browser (on a mobile device). They do not save browsing history. Your example doesn’t show how to clear this browsers (Duckduckgo) cache, cookies, etc. Would clearing out all app data in settings for the app itself do the same thing?

    Hello. Clearing out the cache in the application settings for duckduckgo would do the trick, or there is a fire symbol near the address bar when the browser is open, that should do the trick too.

    Hello. Do you mean that you where trying to register? Our website should not just shut down, and we cannot activate the account according to your code as we do not see our client verification codes. Please try registering again and choose email as to receive the confirmation code.
