Hungary is the newest country to join the Proton VPN network

You can connect to our new servers in Hungary to unblock content and protect your Internet traffic while you use public WiFi. Hungary is the 51st country to join the Proton VPN network. These new servers let you browse the Internet with a Hungarian IP address and give you more options to secure your online activity in Eastern Europe.

We installed eight new VPN servers in a data center in Budapest, Hungary.

They are available to users on one of our paid plans. Each new server we install increases our capacity for new users and improves service for current users.

HU#1-3 are available on our Basic plan.
HU#4-8 are available on our Plus and Visionary plans.

The benefits of Hungarian VPN servers

These servers will allow Hungarians traveling abroad to maintain a virtual residence in Hungary, no matter where they are. They will also allow anyone around the globe to access geo-restricted content on Hungarian websites.

If you are currently located in Hungary, these local servers will be our fastest option if you want to protect your online activity from surveillance by Internet service providers and network administrators.

Now that these eight servers are online, you can browse with a Hungarian IP address and protect your Internet traffic with an extra layer of encryption.

More about Proton VPN and how to sign up

Proton VPN is a secure, community-supported VPN service. It was developed by the same team that created Proton Mail, the world’s largest encrypted email provider. We offer the only free VPN service that does not have data caps, bandwidth limits, privacy-invading ads, or log user activity.

Our security and privacy tools will always be free. This is a crucial part of our mission to bring online freedom to everyone.

All Proton VPN apps are open source and have undergone a thorough audit by the security firm SEC Consult. We made our apps open source because it demonstrates our dedication to transparency. Anyone can review our apps’ code and ensure they do exactly what we claim they do. This transparency also enhances our apps’ security, as cybersecurity experts from all over the world can now scrutinize our code. This means potential vulnerabilities are quickly spotted and fixed. We do this so that you can be confident that our apps will keep your online browsing secure and private.
