How to safely watch Formula 1 live online

Posted on June 8th, 2018 by in Articles & News.

Twenty Formula 1 racers are competing in 21 F1 circuits around the world. There’s only one way to watch all of them safely online. This article will show you how to live stream the Formula 1 World Championship online using a VPN.

Six F1 championship races are already behind us, and three drives are neck and neck with two wins apiece: Sebastian Vettel of Germany, Daniel Ricciardo of Australia, and Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain, back to defend his title. Ricciardo won the tricky Monaco Grand Prix on May 27 and will face his next test in the June 10 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal and the June 24 French Grand Prix in Le Castellet. The full schedule of F1 races can be found here.

There are several Formula 1 races left to watch this year, ending with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Nov. 25. Below we’ll tell you how you can catch all the F1 excitement through the security and privacy of a virtual private network, or VPN.

How to watch F1 live online with a VPN

A VPN is a basic online security tool that anyone can use. While connected to a VPN, all your Internet traffic is passed through an encrypted tunnel before entering the public Internet, hiding your true IP address and blocking out anyone attempting to monitor your activities. To learn more, read our article about how VPNs work.

ProtonVPN supports Formula 1 streaming online via our Plus and Visionary plans. If you don’t have an account yet, or you need to upgrade your plan, it only takes a minute. Just click a button below to get started.

Where to watch Formula 1 for 2018

Several web outlets are broadcasting the F1 World Championships this year. Below is a list of live streaming sites, along with the country and ProtonVPN plan that supports streaming.

United States

Univision          All US Plus servers

Fox Sports       All Plus servers

Canada

TSN                 All Plus servers

France

TF1                 All France Plus servers

You can also stream via Hulu, which works with all Plus servers. (Of course, you’ll need to have a Hulu subscription.)

Note: These servers were working for these websites when we tested them recently. But because some websites use VPN blocking to enforce geographic licensing restrictions, we cannot guarantee they will continue to work.
